Pennsylvania Meat Packaging Company Recalls Product

A Pennsylvania meat packing company is recalling a little more than 1,300 pounds of beef products due to mislabeling.

The packaged meat may contain pork and the additive erythorbate, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The recalled meats are 1 lb. plastic shrink-wrapped “BERKS Heat & Serve Knockwurst” links with establishment number “EST. 8782.”

States that were sold the recalled products include Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, New York, West Virginia, Virginia and Delaware.

The mislabeling was revealed by company employees and reported the mistake to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Fortunately, no illnesses or other harmful incidents have been reported. However, all purchasers of this product are encouraged not to eat them, but rather dispose of them immediately or return them to the retailer where they were bought.
